About Us...

Dr Sherwood Jonathan L. Sherwood, M.D.

Dr. Sherwood received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He earned his Medical Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. His Gastroenterology fellowship was completed at Faulkner and Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been named a Top Doctor in Washingtonian Magazine. He is the founding doctor of Alpine Gastroenterology, PC and began the practice in 1976.



Dr Travers William L. Travers, M.D.

Dr. Travers graduated Cum Laude from Yale University with a B.A. in Psychology. After earning his Medical Degree at the Yale University School of Medicine and completing his internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia (now VCU), he served two years in the Public Health Service attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He then returned to the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency in Internal Medicine before moving to Washington DC for his fellowship in Gastroenterology at The George Washington University Medical Center. He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Special interests include acid peptic disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

Dr. Travers has served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine and as President of the Medical Staff of Prince William Hospital and has also served on the Board of Trustees of Prince William Health System. He has been named a Top Doctor in the Washingtonian Magazine. He currently works part time with our office and the remainder of the time serves as Vice President of Medical Affairs with Prince William Health System.



Dr Price Elizabeth L. Price, M.D.

Dr. Price attended the University of Texas at El Paso and graduated with highest honors with a B.S. in Biology. She obtained his Medical Degree at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. She then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His Gastroenterology fellowship was completed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. She then served on the faculty at East Carolina University Medical School. She has been with Alpine Gastroenterology since 1989. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Her particular interests include diseases of the pancreas and biliary systems and acid peptic diseases. In his spare time, she enjoys gardening, golf, and playing the piano.
